TypeNoOne were honored this year to be nominated for the prestigious Student Volunteer “Project of the Year” award. Of the seven nominated student-led projects at the university, we were one of three finalists to be invited to the Volunteer Centre’s award ceremony on the 15th May 2014.
Among the finalists were two fantastic groups – Knit-a-Soc and the Springboard Project.
Knit-a-Soc won the award for their excellent contribution to the QMC neonatal unit, donating over 150 hats for newborn premature babies; they were also recognized for their continuous development of their project, teaching students how to knit and donate over the past 5 years.
The Type 1 Diabetes Support Group were delighted to be given the runner’s up prize at the ceremony on Thursday. To be recognized for this award, having only been an active group for the past 7 months, is an achievement in itself.
Over the next academic year, we hope to grow further, bringing education and encouragement to more students – while raising money to work towards as cure.
